Marlboro College

Academics Michael Sirois

Sophomore 2

Favorite M
arlboro Classes. I've got too many. At the top, I would probably list The Idea of Russia, Jazz, and Translation: Theory & Practice. All of them were just fascinating and taught by incredible professors. Plus, now I can rattle off facts about Ivan Bilibin, Steve Coleman, and classical German translation theory in everyday conversation. Can't go wrong there.Academic Interests. German, Germanic languages, education, history, linguistics

Favorite Place at Marlboro. Pretty much anywhere on the third floor of the library. There are so many little cave-like places up there, and they're really great and cozy in the winter (a good way to escape the Great White Not-So-North).

Advice. I wish I had known how great intro classes are. Go to as many as you can, and shoot for the really ridiculous-sounding ones. Even if you don't end up taking the class, the intro classes are always worth checking out.

Summer Plans. I just got back from a six-week German-language intensive course in Berlin.
