The Capstone

Capstone Projects are the crowning achievement of most master's and undergraduate studies. Each project:

  • Solves a real-world problem
  • Is a 6-credit final project that is managed by the student
  • Entails 250+ hours of substantial work, documentation, and reflection
  • Includes deliverables, a public presentation, and a defense presentation
  • Has a client and advisor who support student work
  • Uses key concepts and skills from the student's course of study

Capstone Presentations and Elevator Pitches

In the plannnig phase of Capstones each student gives a 30-second elevator pitch. Near the end of Capstones public presenations are given. The last step on the Capstone process is a private retrospective meeting with chairs, advisors and the Capstone coordinator.
