Academics Schedule
Subject to adjustment based on production needs. Start dates and final wrap are fixed.

Film Intensive students arrive. |
| January 18 |
Students and projector/selected mentors meet for orientation, planning and introductory class sessions. Review detailed schedule, college logistics (i.e. food, classrooms, transportation). Evening: reception and film screenings. |

January 19-25 |
Sundance Film Festival. Students travel to Park City Utah for festival screenings, experience, meeting discussions. |
| January 26 - March 9 |
Academic intensive: Curriculum to focus on "north country" literature and cinema. Literature will be selected from among writers including Annie Proulx, Howard Mosher, Jeffrey Lent, Russell Banks, Robert Frost, Richard Russo, Louise Erdrich. Films under consideration include Courtney Hunt's Frozen River, Atom Egoyan's The Sweet Hereafter, Jay Craven's Where the Rivers Flow North, Jan Troell's The Emigrants and The New Land, Akira Kurosawa's Dersu Uzala, Claude Berri's Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring, Bruce Beresford's Black Robe, Ingmar Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage, Phillip Borsos' The Grey Fox and others. Daily and evening schedules to include: 1) classes, 2) discussions, 3) reading, research and writing assignments, 4) visiting filmmakers, lecturers and discussion leaders, 5) technical training, 6) film screenings, 7) arts expeditions, 8) all-campus events, and 9) preliminary pre-production work (see below). Pre-Production: This period will include 1) technical training, 2) nightly screenings and discussions, 3) direct planning and mobilization for all film production departments including, a) locations (including food housing, and transportation logistics), b) art department, c) costumes, d) assistant director/scheduling, cast and crew calls, e) technical scouts, f) actor rehearsals, g) camera department. |
| March 10-25 |
Spring break |
| March 26 - May 8 |
Production Period: Daily production schedule based on five-day production weeks. Evening activities will include review and watching of dailies, film screenings. Week-ends to include rest, recreation and art expeditions. |
| May 9-12 |
Production Wrap: All dorms must be vacated by May 12. Activities will include any clean-up and/or restoration. Return of equipment. |
