Admissions Steps to Follow in Applying

Step 1: Common Application Form and Marlboro Supplement Form
Instructions: Complete the Common Application form online with the Marlboro Supplement form and submit by one of the application deadlines. Please contact the admissions office if you are unsure which deadline is right for you.

Step 2: Why Marlboro? Personal Statement (You may upload this to the Marlboro Supplement form on the Common Application web site or submit separately via mail.)
Instructions:
Write a personal statement about who you are, how you think, what you value, and what issues and ideas interest you the most. Also tell us how your interest in Marlboro College developed and how attending Marlboro fits into your overall goals.

Step 3: Sending Application Fee
Instructions: Submit the $50 application fee via the Common Application website by the appropriate application deadline. Payment may also be made by credit card over the phone or sent by check in the mail. If you are unable to send the application fee, email your admissions counselor and include reasons for your application fee waiver request.

Step 4: Transcripts
Instructions: Give your Secondary School Report to your high school counselor, and ask that your high school transcripts be sent to Marlboro College. If you are a transfer student, you must also provide a college transcript from each institution you have attended. Ask the registrar to send a copy of your college transcript to Marlboro.
Timetable: Submit transcript(s) by the application deadline you are applying for.

Step 5: Expository Writing Sample
Instructions: Select a recent analytical writing sample to submit with your application. This paper should have been written for an academic class, such as an essay or research-oriented paper. Please provide a paper which you believe accurately reflects your current academic writing skills. There is no length requirement. This sample may be uploaded to the Marlboro Supplement form on the Common Application web site.
Timetable: Begin reviewing papers you have completed for academic classes as soon as possible in case a new piece needs to be written.

Step 6: Recommendation Forms (2)
Instructions: Give your teacher recommendation form to a teacher who knows you well. Give your second recommendation form to another adult who knows you well—it may be a guidance counselor, another teacher, coach, employer or mentor.
Timetable: As soon as possible. Recommenders appreciate having ample time.

Step 7: Interview
Instructions: Arrange an interview by calling the admissions office at (800) 343-0049. Interviews are required for transfer applicants only. We encourage all applicants to arrange for a campus interview if their schedule allows (limited phone interviews are also available).
Timetable: After the application form has been submitted.

Step 8: SAT or ACT Test Scores (optional)
Instructions: Marlboro does not require you to submit SAT or ACT test scores. However, if you would like your scores to be considered in your application review, the Marlboro College codes on the test form: SAT-3509, ACT-4304.
Timetable: By or before the fall of senior year, if you choose to take/submit test scores.

Step 9: Financial Aid Form
Instructions: Those applying for financial aid should complete and submit the FAFSA form online by March 1st (for Fall semester) in order to ensure that it is processed by the priority deadline.
Timetable for Fall 2010 Semester: The FAFSA should be submitted online by March 1, 2010.
