"If you can think of it, someone will help you do it...assuming it's safe," John Whelan says about Marlboro College's self-directed approach. And John certainly explored the broad interdisciplinary boundaries afforded to Marlboro students in his Plan of Concentration, which combined Economics and Visual Arts in order to study craft production in the creative economy,. One part of his Plan was comprised of a series of papers on the history and American revival of the Arts & Crafts Movement, while a second component was an exhibition of his own wood sculptures. Watch John discusses both while working on his sculptures in the Perrine welding studio.
