MARLBORO, VT -- In celebration of the re-opening of Persons
Auditorium - which has been undergoing renovations during the winter
- Marlboro College is pleased to announce a special performance
by disc jockey Smash Hunter, a club music innovator, from 9 p.m.
to midnight, Friday, April 28.
Hunter, who has performed at various venues worldwide, will present
his ground-breaking musical/rhythmic dialogue about the history
of house music, including diverse genres, interpretations, and mixes
from around the globe. Known as a dance/jazz pioneer, Hunter is
featured on such trend-setting labels as Nu Groove, Eight Ball,
Instinct, and new Breed Records. In January 1999, he introduced
his new imprint, Midnite Recordings, which focuses on disco and
funky-styled house music, working towards a New York sound with
an international appeal.
"As a DJ and producer, I can't help but project a global influence
with my sound, whether it's house, hip hop, breakbeat, jazz, or
whatever," says Hunter. "So my projects are a reflection
of my travels and experiences, as well as all the funky, creative
people I've met around the world."
General-admission tickets for this substance-free event are $10
per person and free for Marlboro College students, faculty, and
staff. Persons Auditorium is fully accessible. For more information,
please call (802) 257-4333 or visit the College's on-line events
