MARLBORO, VT - The first in a series of Faculty Forums at Marlboro College this semester will feature philosophy professor Dr. Neal Weiner presenting "Word and Sentence: Meaning and Truth," at 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 26. The discussion will focus on truth as the grounds for meaning and communication.
Weiner joined the Marlboro faculty in 1970, after being a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at the University of Chicago and a Danforth Fellow at the University of Texas, where he completed his doctoral work on Plato. At Marlboro, he teaches political theory, literature, and psychology, as well as traditionalphilosophy courses.
The Faculty Forum series has been organized as a new opportunity for faculty members to share aspects of their work outside of the classroom with each other and interested students, staff, and community members. The next Faculty Forum will feature political science and writing faculty member Meg Mott, who will speak about "The Divine Rights of People: The Iberic-Latin Tradition of Democracy," on February 9.
All of the forums, which are free and open to the public, will take place in the Apple Tree building, which is fully accessible. For more information, call (802) 257-4333.
