NewsPress Release: 11/13/00 David Mamet's "Glenngarry Glenn Ross" Comes to Marlboro College
MARLBORO, VT- Playwright David Mametõs 1984 Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece comes to Marlboro College this weekend, as junior Patrick McMahill directs "Glenngarry Glenn Ross" in the Whittemore Theater. The play will be performed on Friday and Saturday, November 17 and 18, at 8 p.m.
The play recreates the atmosphere of a gritty Chicago real-estate office, where times are tough. The new Glengarry sales leads could provide a boon, but management is withholding them until the lagging salesmen prove themselves. Then someone steals the leads, leaving everyone wondering who did it.
The play came to the screen in 1992, winning plaudits for screenwriter Mamet and its ensemble cast. This stage production features a seven man cast, including actor-director McMahill and Marlboro College students Ian Garthwait, Chip Hurd, Jeremy Kacik, T.J. Helmuth and Lee Collyer. It also features local actor Dave Storti.
The Whittemore Theatre is fully accessible. The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 257-4333.
