NewsPress Release: 10/23/00New Assistant Director of Admissions
MARLBORO, VT - A world traveler joins the Marlboro College staff this year. Ross Colgate, originally from Oregon, arrives on Potash Hill by way of Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Scotland and Russia to be the new Assistant Director of Admissions.
A graduate of Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Colgate finished with degrees in economics and also in Russian language and culture. At this point of her self-proclaimed semi-nomadic life, she joins the Marlboro College admissions office with experience working with the Brattleboro-based School of International Training's Semester Abroad program, where students spend semesters at S.I.T.'s outposts around the world.
"Working at Marlboro is a different ballgame," says Colgate. "It's different talking to students about three and a half years of their lives rather than three months." At Marlboro, Colgate's duties entail much road work. She tours the country on the college fair circuit, doing individual high school visits and giving presentations about the college to groups of students.
Marlboro College is a four-year private liberal arts college in Marlboro, Vermont. It is distinguished by its philosophy of self-governance, its tradition of academic rigor and faculty-student interaction, and its liberal arts curriculum.
