NewsPress Release -Marlboro College Welcomes New Director of Information Technologies
MARLBORO, VT - Marlboro College recently welcomed Sharon Solms as its new director of information technologies.
Before coming to Marlboro, Solms was the systems administrator at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. A graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, Solms has a degree in computer science. She worked for the School for International Training in Brattleboro before becoming the computing information specialist for the Five College Consortium in Amherst. At Marlboro, Solms oversees the expanding network of computer resources that support both academic programs and administration.
Founded in 1946, Marlboro College offers undergraduate education in the liberal arts and, since 1997, graduate study focused on Internet technologies. Its 300 undergraduate students enjoy a 7:1 student-faculty ratio, a voice in governing the community, and individualized courses of study on a 350-acre campus in the hills of southern Vermont. Marlboros nearby Brattleboro-based Persons School features three masters degree programs -- Internet Strategy Management, Teaching with Internet Technologies, and Internet Engineering. The Brattleboro campus is located in the Marlboro College Technology Center, which brings together education and entrepreneurship, while offering technology resources to the community.
