MARLBORO, VT America's premiere festival for short experimental, narrative, and documentary films, The Black Maria Film Festival, will screen its 2001 award winners at Marlboro College's Whittemore Theater, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13.
Now in its twentieth year, The Black Maria Film Festival encourages visionary filmmaking and is named for Thomas Edison's New Jersey studio where the motion picture was first developed. Festival curator and director John Columbus will screen the films, which tour each year to sites including Stanford University, Cornell, Rhode Island School of Design, Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, and The Smithsonian's Hirshorn Museum.
Tuesday's screening is made possible by support from The Marlboro Film Committee, Marlboro Student Activities, The Eastman Kodak Foundation, The Thomas Edison National Historical Site, and The National Endowment for the Arts.
