NewsPersons School Offers Information Sessions
BRATTLEBORO, VT - The Persons School of Marlboro College will offer a series of regional sessions to provide information on its Internet masters degree programs. Information sessions will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 4 in Northampton, Massachusetts; Thursday, April 5 in Hartford, Connecticut; and Wednesday, April 18 in Colchester, Vermont.
The Persons School offers one-year masters programs in Internet Strategy Management (ISM), Teaching with Internet Technologies (MAT), and Internet Engineering (MSIE). The programs are designed for working professionals, with classes meeting every other weekend and online.
The focus of the information sessions will be the unabated need for information technology experts amid the stock market correction that has hit technology companies heavily. President Paul LeBlanc of Marlboro College, an expert on issues relating to the Internet and education, cautions against overreacting to the burst of the dot-com bubble. "Our e-commerce program has always been about taking existing businesses and integrating into their work an online strategy that supports growth, improves customer relations management, generates cost savings, and maintains a competitive edge."
Graduates of the ISM and MSIE programs have joined established industry leaders such as Brown Brothers Harriman, Charles Schwab, IBM, Viant Corporation, Spring, Pratt & Whitney, LEGO Systems and Motorola. The MAT program prepares educators to help schools integrate the educational possibilities of the Internet into their programs.
The information sessions will include presentations by Persons School faculty, discussion with alumni, and light refreshments. The April 4 session in Northampton will take place at the Hotel Northampton on 36 King Street. The April 5 session in Hartford will take place at the Hastings Hotel on 84 Sigourney Street. The April 18 session in Colchester will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 at the offices of Vertek at 463 Mountain View Drive.
There will also be an open house at The Persons School, March 31 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., at 28 Vernon Street in Brattleboro.
