NewsPress Release -Marlboro College Dancer Presents "Assemblage Experiment"
MARLBORO, VT - Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 10-12, at 8 p.m. in Marlboro Colleges Whittemore Theatre, Marlboro senior Lupin Mindlin presents an original dance performance entitled "Assemblage Experiment: A Dance Concert."
Mindlin is presenting this performance as part of her Plan of Concentration, the cornerstone of Marlboro College's academic program. It is an in-depth, self-designed exploration of a field or fields of each students choosing. The Plan culminates in a major independent project involving research, one-to-one study with faculty in tutorials and a three-hour oral examination with Marlboro faculty and an outside examiner who is an expert in the students field.
Mindlin has danced for years; her work at Marlboro has focused on dance and the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse. The creation of "Assemblage Experiment: A Dance Concert," is, according to Mindlin, "a collaborative dance experiment." The ensemble, composed of three other Marlboro student dancers and Shannon McGough, Marlboro Colleges jazz dance instructor, all have brought their skills and knowledge of different dance and movement schools to the production. Mindlin then has directed the group through an "explorative" process to create this piece.
The Whittemore Theatre is fully accessible. For more information on this or any other event at the college, please call (802) 257-4333 or visit the college at www.marlboro.edu.
