NewsPress Release: 9/06/01Marlboro College Hosts Evening of Scottish Music and Dance
MARLBORO, VT - Those familiar with Scottish music will recognize a ceilidh (the Gaelic word is pronounced "kay-lee") as a lively evening of song, tunes and dancing. Sunday, September 16, at 7 p.m., Marlboro College will host the Rosehall Ceilidh Band of Northern Scotland in the Campus Center.
The band, which performs traditional Scottish and New England tunes, as well as original songs, features guitarist Dave Goulder, button accordionist John MacDonald, and flutist Bruce Curtiss. Mary Gilchrist and Bernie Gage will lead the audience in a few traditional Scottish dances.
Joining in the festivities with some tunes of their own will be Marlboro's very-musical MacArthur family.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information on this or other events at Marlboro, call (802) 257-4333 or visit the college online at http://www.marlboro.edu.
