MARLBORO, VERMONT Poet Jay Meek will read from his latest manuscript at a poetry reading set for Thursday, Sept. 26 at Marlboro College at 7 p.m.
Meek is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Syracuse University and has been a visiting writer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and Sarah Lawrence College.
Since 1985, he has been a professor at the University of North Dakota, where he directs theses and dissertations in poetry, and serves as poetry editor for North Dakota Quarterly. Meek has published six books of poems with Carnegie-Mellon University Press, including Headlands: New and Selected Poems (1997). His seventh book from CMU is a novel, The Memphis Letters.
For his work he has earned grant s from the Bush Foundation, the Guggenheim Foundation, and two awards from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Founded in 1946, Marlboro College offers undergraduate education in the liberal arts and, since 1997, graduate study focused on Internet technologies.
