Brattleboro, Vermont - The work of Lisa Brooks, Persons alum ’02,
will be featured during February Gallery Walk in downtown Brattleboro
on Friday, Feb. 7 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Marlboro College
Technology Center.
Brooks' gallery walk exhibit will include a retrospective of her work over the past ten years. She will display a full range of her art including large flower watercolors, goddess and angel images, body castings and computer enhanced photography. Brooks says of her work, "I find myself straddling the fence between the world of spirit, mythical and contemporary, and the cyberage of today. I depict in my images elemental dynamics. I perceive that nature includes the energy that powers technology. I do not see any conflict in being an artist who uses both pixels and birch bark, the paintbrush and mouse."
Brooks has been the art teacher at Whitingham School in Whitingham, VT for the past 22 years. She illustrated Joe Eck's book, Elements of Garden Design, Henry Holt, 1996, with 32 pen and ink drawings of North Hill.. Her work has been shown locally and online and she has won numerous awards for her teaching and for her art.
Gallery Walk at the Technology Center begin with the opening reception at 5:30 p.m. Ample free parking will be available at the Technology Center, at 28 Vernon St.
