NewsPress Release: 2/26/02Marlboro College Tech Center Offers e-Biz Network Event

BRATTLEBORO, VT - Protecting intellectual/creative property in an age of digital distribution will be the topic of an e-Biz Network Group event from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Marlboro College Technology Center on Vernon Street in downtown Brattleboro.

Sponsored jointly by the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce, Vermont's e-Biz Network Group, and Marlboro College, "Digital Distribution and Protecting Your Property Online" will include networking from 4:30 to 5 p.m., presentations and discussions from 5-6:30 p.m., and further networking from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Admission to the event costs $20 and advance registration is required.

Leading the presentations and discussions will be Lois Wasoff, vice president and corporate counsel of Houghton Mifflin Company; Corin Nelsen, director of i-media at Websound, Inc.; and Glenn Fisher, chief technology officer of Websound.

The e-Biz Network Group is a collaboration of Vermont businesses, organizations, and agencies building Vermont's e-commerce capability through person-to-person learning. Members include Champlain College; KPMG; Dinse, Knapp and McAndrew; Merrit and Merrit; Vermont Information Technology Center; Vermont Small Business Development Center; Vermont Department of Economic Development; Vermont Telecommunications Application Center; Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center; Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation; Marlboro College; and Kreisel Segar and Company.

Launched in Brattleboro in October 2000, the Marlboro College Technology Center brings together education and entrepreneurship, while offering technology resources to the community. It houses the Persons School of Marlboro College, which provides four master's degree programs in Systems Integration Management, Internet Strategy Management, Teaching with Internet Technologies, and Internet Engineering. The Technology Center also features an incubator for start-up and existing technology companies and a launch pad for Persons School alumni with viable business plans for new tech companies.
