MARLBORO, VT - Marlboro College is pleased to welcome Victoria Chertok May as its new media relations director.
A Putney resident since 1997, May has extensive media relations background in higher education. She served as main campus public relations director at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., from 1989 to 1991, and as director of media relations at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, from 1993 to 1995.
Her media experience also includes working as a freelance consultant for Upsala College in New Jersey and Harvard University in Cambridge, and as a staff member at College Connections in New York City, the United Way of Tri-State in New York City, and Clark and Company Public Relations in Boston. Most recently, May worked as a freelance public relations specialist from her home. Her list of clients featured singer/songwriter Lisa McCormick, Friends of the Latchis, the School for International Training, and Connecticut Valley Midwives.
May earned a bachelor's degree in music with a minor in English from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. She previously served as a visiting trustee for the Bucknell Committee on Public Relations and Publications, and is currently the president of the board of directors for Making the Most of I, Inc., a nonprofit organization for women based in Saxtons River, Vermont.
Founded in 1946, Marlboro College offers undergraduate education in the liberal arts and, since 1997, graduate study focused in Internet technologies. Its 300 undergraduate students enjoy a 7:1 student-faculty ratio, a voice in governing the community, and individualized courses of study on a 360-acre campus in the hills of southern Vermont.
