MARLBORO, VERMONT – Scholar William Chittick will offer the community an examination of the Islamic faith this month during a lecture entitled “The Spiritual Path in Islam.”

Chittick’s Littauer Lecture is slated for Monday, March 29 at 7 p.m. in the Whittemore Theater at Marlboro College. Chittick is a professor of comparative studies at SUNY Stonybrook and will offer an introduction to the inner aspects of Islamic faith and practice during his lecture.

Chittick is considered one of the foremost scholars of the Islamic intellectual and spiritual tradition in the United States. He received his PhD from the University of Tehran. His most recent publications include “The Sufi Path of Love: The Spiritual Teachings of Rumi,” “The Psalms of Islam,” and “The Heart of Islamic Philosophy: The quest for Self-knowledge in the Teachings of Afdal al-Din Kashani.”

The Littauer Lecture Series, funded by the Lucius N. Littauer Foundation, focuses on religion. All Littauer Lecctures are free and open to the public in the fully accessible Whittemore Theater on Marlboro’s main campus in Marlboro, Vermont.
