Mozart's violin sonatas
Marlboro's Sunday afternoon concert series presents complete violin sonatas of Mozart.
Marlboro, VT (Sept. 14,2006)-
The Marlboro College Sunday Afternoon Concert Series is pleased to present Mozart (& More) at Marlboro, featuring the complete violin sonatas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed by Robert Merfeld, piano and Bayla Keyes, violin. The series begins September 17 at 3 p.m. in the campus's Serkin Center for the Performing Arts.
The first concert will include a performance of Mozart's violin sonata in G Major, K27, written when the composer was 10 years old and played by young violinist Seth Ainsworth, a student at the Brattleboro Music Center.
Pianist Robert Merfeld studied at Oberlin Conservatory and the Julliard School and was a founding member of Apple Hill Chamber Players with whom he toured for more than 20 years. He has performed internationally as a soloist, in festivals and with orchestras and chamber music ensembles. Merfeld is on the faculties of Boston and Harvard universities and the Longy School of Music and has recorded with Centaur and Sine Qua Non labels.
Bayla Keyes studied at Curtis Institute of Music and Yale University, and is a founding member of the Muir String Quartet. She performs widely as a soloist, chamber musician and as a member of Boston Musica, Viva and Sonos. She teaches at Boston University College of Fine Arts and is the artistic director of the Interlochen Chamber Music Conference. Keyes has recorded with EMI-France, Ecoclassics, CRI and other companies. Seating in the Serkin Center is limited and is on a first come, first served basis.
