NewsGraduate Creates Structure Specifically for Marlboro College Campus Gallery
Marlboro, VT (Feb. 7)—Sculptor and Marlboro graduate Kate Carr will build a site-specific structure in Marlboro College’s Drury Gallery from Wednesday, February 21 to Friday, March 16.
Using transparent sailcloth and various sewing techniques, Carr’s Home investigates ideas of home, location and longing.
Carr received the 2003 Outstanding Student Achievement in Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center and was a resident artist at The Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont and at the Harwood Museum in Taos, New Mexico. She completed both her M.A. and M.F.A. in sculpture at the University of Iowa.
Her work has been exhibited at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids Michigan, box gallery in Santa Fe and the Kingston Gallery in Boston. Pictures of her work have been featured in Sculpture Magazine.
In addition to her installation exhibit, Carr will give a presentation about her work and working process on Tuesday, February 27 at 4:00 p.m. in Apple Tree.
Drury Gallery hours are Sunday through Friday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
