NewsMarlboro College Senior Displays Book Examining Urban Change
Marlboro, VT (April 23, 2007)—Senior Tessa Walker will display a hand-bound book, Seeing the City in Text and Image: Some Collected Thoughts on Urban Form, from Friday, April 20, through Sunday, May 20 on the ground floor of the Rice-Aron Library at Marlboro College.
Walker’s Plan of Concentration examines urban planning, public policy and sustainable development.
As a component of her Plan, Seeing the City in Text and Image: Some Collected Thoughts on Urban Form includes images from Hanoi and Budapest, where Walker conducted research to contrast urban change in post-Soviet cities.
Recognizing the similarities between intentionally designed spaces in cities and in books, Walker construed this concept as an academic paper relying on visual images structured as a book.
