News Artist Reception for Frank Stout's Retrospective Americana, October 12.
MARLBORO, VT - (October 2, 2008) - Marlboro College will hold an artist's reception for Frank Stout's Respective Americana from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Sunday, October 12 in the Drury Gallery. Stout's Retrospective Americana will be on display in the gallery from October 4 through November 2.
Retrospective Americana is a series of works personally selected by Stout for display in the Drury Gallery.
"His work looks effortless and natural," says Wolf Kahn, "exemplifying what Mallarmé described as 'the condition to which every work of art inspires, that of having created itself.'"
Frank Stout was chair of the Art Department of Marlboro College from 1966 until 1990, when he retired. His work has been exhibited in many venues, such as the National Academy and School of Fine Art, The Brattleboro Museum, The Springfield Museum and The Painting Center. He received the H.W. Ranger Award in painting in 1982.
The Drury Gallery is open Sunday through Friday, 1:00- 5:00PM. Admission to the exhibit is free and open to the public.
