News SINGER ANAIS MITCHELL AND THE HADESTOWN ORCHESTRA TO PERFORM AT MARLBORO COLLEGE, APRIL 10
MARLBORO, VT - (April 1st, 2010) - Marlboro College will present Anais Mitchell and the Hadestown Orchestra, featuring Michael Chorney Sextet at 8:30 PM, Saturday, April 10, at the dining hall.
Vermont-based Anaïs Mitchell writes songs that are as intimate as conversations and as rich in detail as short stories. Her 2004 debut CD, Hymns for the Exiled, caught the attention of Ani DiFranco, who added Mitchell to the artist roster for her label, Righteous Babe Records. Mitchell's 2007 CD, The Brightness, was praised by the Boston Globe for its "vivid snapshots of sweetly ordinary moments." Her latest release, Hadestown, is an epic "folk opera" retelling of the Orpheus myth, and features guest performances by Ani DiFranco, Bon Iver, Greg Brown and others.
Opening for Mitchell will be Marlboro College alumna Helen Hummel '09. Doors open at 8:00 pm. General admission is $10 and there is no charge for Marlboro College students, faculty and staff (must present ID).
