Offices Academic Advising and Support Services
"I'm a liaison,"says Catherine O'Callaghan. "I'm always connecting people to different people and resources--come into my office and I'll tell you all the wealth of what we have here."
As director of academic advising, Catherine promotes effective advising, monitors student academic progress, and focuses particularly on a student's first two years and transition to Plan.
Catherine has a M.T.S. in Biblical Studies from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA and a B.A. in English and Theology from Fordham University in New York, NY. She also studied at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA.
Academic advising at Marlboro happens in a number of ways. The Director of Academic Advising assigns incoming students to faculty advisors and oversees the academic advising of all students. Faculty advisors meet regularly with their new and returning advisees to offer guidance and feedback on their advisees' academic progress (see Dedicated Hour and List of Topics for Advisors and Advisees).
The Director of Academic Advising also works directly with students to ensure that they are fulfilling the College's academic requirements (see Disciplinary Action, Plan of Concentration, and Plan Application links ). All students are welcome to meet with the Director of Academic Advising. However, students who are having any academic difficulties are encouraged to stop by or to meet with Jeremy Holch, Director of Academic Support Services (see Academic Support Services). Those students on Guided Probation must meet regularly with Director of Academic Advising (see Disciplinary Action in the Handbook).
