Job Description: The Summer Farm Manager will be responsible for daily farm maintenance tasks, including planting, transplanting seedlings, weeding, watering, harvesting, and crop preservation. Farm Manager will also be responsible for the transportation of full compost buckets from the Dining Hall to the compost pile, as needed, and for turning the compost pile on a regular basis. Beyond the physical duties on the farm, the Summer Farm Manager must also maintain a detailed log of relevant events in a farm journal to be turned in to the Farm Committee at the end of their employment; provide guidance to any interested community member; and coordinate community engagement events as determined by community interest. This position will be available for the period May 14, 2012 to August 24, 2012.
Skills Required: Prior farming or gardening experience is a must; preference will be given to candidates who have been previously involved with the Marlboro Farm. Experience with pickling, canning, and other methods of food preservation is desirable.
