Accessing Shared Calendars
Marlboro provides shared calendars to its faculty and staff and hosts networked calendars for students. You can follow these instructions to setup your own network calendar (which can be accessed on and off campus). If you need access to someone else's networked calendar or wish to maintain calendars on the main website or for your committee or group please contact techsupport@marlboro.edu and we'll be happy to help with setup.
These instructions are designed to work with Mozilla Sunbird. Which can be obtained for free here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/.
- Visit Webmail and click on the Calendar link in the left-hand menu.
-
On the right side of the page you should see a floating window titled Calendars. If it is not expanded as in the following image, expand it by clicking on the word Calendars. Click the lightbulb next to your calendar.
-
In the purple pop-up that appears when you click on the lightbulb copy the address in the white box. This is the address of your shared calendar and we are now done with webmail.
- Open Sunbird.
- Choose New Calendar . . . from the File menu.
-
Choose to create your calendar On the Network
-
You are creating an iCalendar (ICS) calendar. Paste the address you copied from webmail into the Location field here.
-
Choose a name for your calendar, you'll probably refer to this as your Work calendar. If you like you can also choose a color for your events.
-
Click Done. Your calendar is now ready to use.
- If you are accessing someone else's shared calendar follow the same instructions but, paste in their address instead of yours.
- The first time you load your calendar you will be asked for your Marlboro email username and password. If you choose not to have your computer remember this information you will be asked every time you start Sunbird.
