This document explains how to configure Mac OS 9 to connect to the Internet through Marlboro via Dial-Up PPP with a modem.
Requirements:
- Macintosh computer with OS 9 installed. (preferably 9.2 or higher)
- Modem (iMac's, eMac's, iBook's, and PowerBook's come with an internal modem. Modem's do not come with all PowerMac's.)
- Phone line (If calling Marlboro College is a long distance call, your phone company will charge you long distance fees)
- A Marlboro College user account.
1. Open up your "Control Panels" folder. (Either through the Apple Menu or by going to the System Folder.

2. Three control panels will need to be configured to connect: Modem, TCP/IP, and Remote Access.

3. Open up the "Modem" control panel. Confirm that the correct modem is selected.

4. Open up the TCP/IP control panel.
Select "PPP" in the "Connect via:" drop down menu.
Select "Using PPP Server" in the "Configure:" drop down menu.

5. Open the Remote Access control panel.
Enter your Marlboro username and password in their respective fields.
Enter the Marlboro dial-up phone number: 258-9294
Click the [Connect] button.
Your modem will dial and authenticate you.

6. Once you are connected, the Remote Access window will change. It will display information such as connection speed and connected time. You can now check your email, surf the web, etc.
When you are done, go back to the Remote Access control panel and click the [Disconnect] button.
