This document explains how to set up access to Marlboro's dial-up network from a PC running Windows 2000.
Requirements:
- A PC located off-campus running Windows 2000
- Administrator privileges to that computer
- A working and properly configured modem
- A Marlboro College user account
1. Open the Network and Dial-up Connections control panel.
By default, it should be accessible from the Start menu as shown below.
2. Double-click on the Make New Connection icon to create a dial-up file for Marlboro.

3. A window like this will pop up. Click Next.

4. Select Dial-up to the Internet and click Next.

5. Select the last option, I want to set up my Internet connection manually... and click Next.

6. Select I connect through a phone line and a modem and click Next.

7. Assuming you are dialing locally, make sure that the box Use area code and dialing rules is unchecked. Under the Telephone number: field, put in Marlboro's dial-up number:
258-9294
Then click Next.

8. The computer that you will actually be dialing into is the very same Akbar that you use to check your email and store file on your home drive with. Use the same user name and password as you would for those things Click Next.

9. Under Connection name: type in a name for the dial-up connection to Marlboro and click Next.

10. You will be asked to set up an email account. For the sake of this tutorial, select No and click Next.

11. Your computer should now be set up to dial Marlboro automatically when you check your email or try to do other things on the internet. Uncheck the box in this window and click Finish.

12. To connect manually, go back into the Network and Dial-up connections control panel and double click on the Marlboro dial-up that you created. You can also create a shortcut to this file and place it on your desktop.

13. Your username and password are saved in this window if you typed them in previously. Click Dial to connect to the internet via Marlboro college.
