Windows XP Dial-Up Tutorial

This document explains how to set up access to Marlboro's dial-up network from a PC running Windows XP.

Requirements:

1. Open the Internet Options control panel.

By default, the Control Panel should be accessible from the Start menu..

2. Click on the Connections tab as shown below, and click on the Setup... button.

3. A window like this will pop up. Click Next.

4. Select Connect to the Internet and click Next.

5. Select the last option, Set up my connection manually and click Next.

6. Select Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next.

7. Name the connection. We suggest "Marlboro College".

8. Under the Phone number: field, put in Marlboro's dial-up number:

258-9294

Then click Next.

9. Under Internet Account Information, type in your Marlboro user name and password. Click Next.

9. Under Connection name: type in a name for the dial-up connection to Marlboro and click Next.

10. Your computer should now be set up to dial Marlboro automatically whenever you check your email or click on a link to a web page. Click Finish.

11. To connect manually, go back into the Network and Dial-up connections control panel and double click on the Marlboro dial-up that you created. A shortcut will have been placed on your desktop if you checked the appropriate box in step 9.

12. Your username and password are saved in this window if you typed them in previously. Click Dial to connect to the internet via Marlboro college.
