Connecting to the Marlboro network with Windows 2000

This document explains how to configure your Windows 2000 PC to use DHCP to connect to the network.

Requirements:

Most Windows 2000 computers are able to connect to our network without requiring any special user configuration. Simply plug in your network cable and go.

If you are having difficulty connecting, please refer to the following instructions to check your network settings. If you require further assistance, please contact Tech Support at x274.

1. Click on the Start button, then go to Settings and select Control Panel.

When the Control Panel opens, double-click on the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.

2. Move the mouse pointer over the Local Area Connection (or Wireless Connection - not shown, but the instructions are nearly identical for both) selecting it with the right-side mouse button, and select Properties from the menu which appears.

3.When the Local Area Connection Properties window opens, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.

4.In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, make sure the following is selected:

Click the OK button to return to the previous window. Then click the OK button again.

5. Restart your computer to renew your computer's address on the network.
