Connecting to the Marlboro network with Windows XP
This document explains how to configure your Windows XP PC to use DHCP to connect to the network.
Requirements:
- A Windows XP PC
- A functioning ethernet or wireless network adapter
Most Windows XP computers are able to connect to our network without requiring any special user configuration. Simply plug in your network cable and go.
If you are having difficulty connecting, please refer to the following instructions to check your network settings. If you require further assistance, please contact Tech Support at x274.
1. Click on the Start button and select Control Panel. When the Control Panel opens click on Network and Internet Connections.
Then click on the Network Connections icon.

2. Move the mouse pointer over the Local Area Connection (or Wireless Connection - not shown, but the instructions are nearly identical for both) selecting it with the right-side mouse button, and select Properties from the menu which appears.

3.When the Local Area Connection Properties window opens, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.

4.In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, make sure the following is selected:
- Obtain an IP address automatically
- Obtain DNS server address automatically
Click the OK button to return to the previous window. Then click the OK button again.

5. Restart your computer to renew your computer's address on the network.
