Engaging both the pragmatic and the imaginative, sculpture at Marlboro is an experience at the crossroads of technical skill building and thoughtful informed conceptual inquiry.
Study in sculpture can exist along a spectrum from an extension of broader academic inquiry to a focused and personal expressive investigation. Sculpture has a way of serving as a bridge to a variety of fields of study and integrating seamlessly into many Plans of Concentration. Through material exploration, hands-on empirical learning and focused inquiry, students find themselves rethinking how they are interacting with the world. Here in the sculpture studio at Marlboro making is thinking and we are constantly finding new ways to explore that paradigm.
