MA in Learning Design and Technology
Educational technology may be the best job you have never heard of. It’s a way to apply your creativity and love of learning while meeting the educational goals of schools, businesses or other organizations. You might find your niche bringing technology into an elementary school classroom, supporting faculty at a university or designing learning units for nonprofits, corporations or government agencies. The demand for these positions is growing steadily, and your best preparation is a Master of Arts in Teaching: Learning Design and Technology.
Many undergraduate courses of study at Marlboro would serve as a valuable foundation for this program, from media production and digital arts to computer programming. If you have an interest in education, web design, or online collaborative tools, the MA in Learning Design and Technology would give you the critical skills to apply these interests in the outside world. During your undergraduate years you will take Educational Technology, plus up to 6 additional credits in topics such as Web Design & Media Production, Educational Technology, or Online Collaborative Tools. Then when you're in the program, you will participate in class residencies one weekend per month, plus complete a two-trimester, self-directed Capstone project. You will also take a 3-credit Internship course and be placed in a school or library for 40 hours of hands-on EdTech experience. The program can be completed in as little as a year, with elective courses that will shape your degree toward your interests, from virtual worlds to web development.
