Renaissance Scholarship

Marlboro College is searching for the best, brightest, and boldest students to participate in our Renaissance Scholars program: students from across the nation who possess intense intellectual passions, a desire to leave the world better than they found it, and the tenacity to realize their most ambitious goals. These unique students are hungry for a college experience that transcends traditional academic models. At Marlboro, they will experience the freedom to pursue diverse interests in multiple disciplines, conduct original scholarship, and enrich our learning community in return. In celebration of these daring, inventive minds, the Renaissance Scholars program offers free tuition to a student from each U.S. state who can most benefit from the Marlboro experience. Are you that student?

Open Minds
Open Doors

The Renaissance Scholars program is an exceptional opportunity for amazing students who are willing to give their all. In the spirit of great minds like Leonardo Da Vinci, Renaissance students possess an unquenchable curiosity that inspires them to create, innovate, and discover. They often work across disciplines—synthesizing their broad knowledge to tackle complex questions in imaginative ways. As leaders on campus and in the community, they demonstrate an inspiring commitment to their fellow humans, which they bring to life in ways that lift up others in service of the greater good.

Candidates for the Renaissance Scholars program will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Community Service: involvement in activities that benefit the greater good.
  • Leadership: ability to enlist others in the accomplishment of a common task.
  • Innovation: creativity to find unique and productive solutions.
  • Perseverance: resolve to sustain projects and prevail in the face of challenges.

To retain the scholarship for four years, Renaissance Scholars will need to maintain good academic and community standing, and provide a one-page letter each year demonstrating their engagement in the community.

In addition to submitting a regular application for admissions to Marlboro, students interested in the Renaissance Scholars program must submit a separate application form, an essay, and any supporting materials by the same due date, January 15, 2017. Applicants will be notified of their admission and scholarship decisions by February 15, 2017.
