Strong Marlboro Presence at New England B Corps Retreat

Posted on July 24, 2018

Marlboro College Graduate and Professional Studies showed up in a big way at the annual New England B Corp Leadership Development Conference (BLD) in June. Management program co-chairs Travis Hellstrom and Lori Hanau attended the conference representing their respective companies - Advance Humanity and Global Round Table Leadership. Advance Humanity is a long time B Corp, having passed the rigorous assessment in 2013. Advance Humanity recently launched the Optimist Center, a hugely successful co-working space and accelertor in Woodstock VT. Global Round Table Leadership is an aspiring B Corp with the mission to "support concious companies, campuses, and communities through shared leadership development to build virbrant workplace cultures, bringing forth the best of the humanity." Marlboro alum, Jodi Clark, also from Global Round Table Leadership, attended the conference as well.

A great time was had by all. Travis tied the experience to his work at Marlboro saying:

"I love attending the New England B Corps Leadership Development Retreats every year. I've been to every one (three now) and helped lead, facilitate, and sponsor them each year. They remind me a lot of the Peace Corps, connecting with like-minded mission-driven people who are trying to make a difference in the world. In the case of B Corps, it's people trying to use business as a force for good. At Marlboro we help purpose driven leaders transform themselves and empower their communities everyday, whether they are in a business, nonprofit, or other organization. It feels great to be able to connect all of us together and this year we had more of us from Marlboro than ever before. I hope next year we can even help create the 4th annual event!"
