Q.Questions
- What is Discovery?
Discovery is a search engine from EBSCOhost that searches our books, ebooks, journal articles, DVDs and more at the same time. Your search will yield results from our library catalog, most library journal databases (like JSTOR, Academic OneFile, EBSCOhost), and several open access databases like arXiv and OAIster. It’s a first stop for your library research needs!
- When does Shut Up & Write meet?
Shut Up & Write meets Friday mornings in the library. Come by and get some work done!
- Does the Library have a copy of my textbook?
The library does have one copy of most textbooks, and they are kept on reserve. The loan period for these materials is 3 hours. Remember, other students in your class will also be using these items, so they may not be immediately available.

- Will someone in the Library proof-read my paper?
While we’re happy to help you with the process of researching your paper, we will refer you to the Writer’s Block for proofreading. You can make an appointment, or drop in to meet with a writing tutor.
- What do I do if a book/video I want to check out is already checked out?
Get in touch with the library staff! We’ll make every effort to contact the person who has the item, and figure out a way to get it to you in a timely manner. We may purchase a replacement or request a copy from another library if the item is lost or missing.
- Can I check out games from the Library?
The library has a few board games available, most of which have been used in classes such as “Serious Fun: The Math and More of Games and Puzzles”. If they are not on Reserve for a class, they are located on the top floor of the library, around call number 793.93. The Outdoor Program has a collection of board games, and outdoor games as well.

There are two non-gendered restrooms on each floor of the library. They are located near the north stairwell, or past the service desk and to your right on the ground floor.
- Can I check out a projector?

- What’s the Check Me Out Award?
The Check Me Out Award is given out at the end of spring semester to the student with the most items checked out from the library over the course of the academic year. The winner receives a gift from the library, and eternal glory.
- Does the Library have guest wifi?
Yes! If you open a browser window on your device, you’ll see a prompt that requires users to agree to terms of service. If you agree, you’ll be able to use the wireless network freely across much of campus.
- What do I do if I need something the library doesn’t have?
Not to worry, we work closely with libraries nationwide in order to request materials. Start the process by filling out our ILL request form with as much information as possible. The library staff will take it from there, and be in touch if we have any questions. As soon as your materials are available, we’ll let you know.
- How do I renew books?
To renew library materials, simply login to your library account. You’ll see a list of everything currently charged to your account. You can click the boxes to the right of the items you wish to renew, or scroll to the bottom of the list and click “Renew All”.
- Can alumni use the library collections?
If you’re coming to visit the library in person, you’re welcome to use any of our materials on-site. If you live locally (Windham or Bennington County, VT; Franklin County, MA; Cheshire County, NH), you may be able to set up an alumni account and check out materials as well. Your student account will expire after graduation, and in order to set up your new account, we’ll need to ensure that all library materials have been returned. We also offer access to JSTOR for all alumni. You can use your Marlboro ID and password to login. If you don’t have a Marlboro account, you can request one here.

Yes, the computer lab on the middle level of the library has printing, scanning, and copying equipment that is freely available to students. For visitors, a coin operated copier is available on the ground floor.
