MARLBORO COLLEGE 69TH COMMENCEMENT
MAY 15, 2016
On a blustery, cloudy, and, yes, even a little bit snowy May morning, faculty, students, family, and friends gathered in Persons Auditorium to celebrate Marlboro College's 69th commencement. President Kevin Quigley warmly welcomed graduates and other community members to the first commencement he has presided over, having started in July 2015, and the first that combined both undergraduate and graduate programs. Graduating senior Laura Stakiwicz regaled those assembled with heartwarming tales of learning and trust, and graduating MA in Teaching with Technology student Heidi Doyle '94 shared remarkable similarities between the Marlboro's undergraduate and graduate programs. Honorary degrees were conferred upon Robert Gard, Jr., chairman of the board at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, and Nadinne Cruz, an advocate and practitioner of service learning and experiential education in colleges and universities across the country. “We are so honored to include these two inspiring examples of service, stewardship, and social innovation in our commencement ceremony,” said Kevin. The ceremony was followed by the dedication of the new Snyder Center for the Visual Arts.
