News Press Release: 8/17/01Marlboro College Launches New Career Development Website
MARLBORO, VT - On Friday, August 17, Marlboro College launches a new comprehensive career development Website as part of its enhanced career services for students and alumni.
Located at http://www.careers.marlboro.edu, the site is accessible to the public, except for those pages with job listings and resume creation tools, which are password-protected for Marlboro College students and alumni.
Offering graduate school information, tools for self-assessment, job search assistance, and volunteer and community service opportunities, the interactive site was designed by Carolyn Conrad, the associate dean of students who graduated this August from Marlboro's master's program in Internet Strategy Management.
Conrad worked closely with Alumni Director Teresa Storti and Carrie Weikel, director of career development and community service programs. Weikel's position was newly created this summer to focus on career counseling, graduate school preparation, and community service planning.
According to Conrad, "Our online career development site offers a low-barrier method to reach out to our current students and alumni. It dovetails nicely with the college's effort to help students and alumni create an academic and career-focused vision."
Founded in 1946, Marlboro College offers undergraduate education in the liberal arts and, since 1997, graduate study focused on Internet technologies. Its 300 undergraduate students enjoy a 7:1 student-faculty ratio, a voice in governing the college community, and individualized courses of study on a 300-acre campus in the hills of southern Vermont. Marlboro's nearby Brattleboro-based Persons School features three master's degree programs Internet Strategy Management, Teaching with Internet Technologies, and Internet Engineering. The Brattleboro campus is located in the Marlboro College Technology Center, which brings together education and entrepreneurship, while offering technology resources to the community.
