MARLBORO, VT – Marlboro College is pleased to announce a showing of “Cowards,” slated for May 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Whittemore Theater.

“Cowards” is an experimental film by local filmmaker and Marlboro College alumni Michel Moyse ‘63.

Moyse won the Best Experimental Award from the New England Film and Video Festival in Boston in February for this film. The New England Film and Video Festival is one of the leading regional independent film and video festivals in the country.

“Cowards” stars Thomas J. Ryan and Nicole Halmos and is a one-hour multi-screen work that presents an emotionally charged glimpse into the life of a married couple locked in a destructive relationship. This film combines narrative elements with graphic psychic gestures derived from content to break from traditional linear storytelling toward a more complex and deeper exposition of meaning only possible through computer layering and digital manipulation.

“Cowards” is based on a short story and script written by Elise Boyce. It was shot in 1996 and edited into its present nine channel form in 2002. In 1999, Moyse received a grant from the Vermont Arts Council toward its completion.

The May 9 film showing of “Cowards” is free and open to the public.
