News Performance Artist Tim Collins Comes to MarlboroMarlboro, VT-Performance artist Tim Collins brings his unique brand of political and comedic solo theater to Marlboro College in a one-night only performance: A FIRE AS BRIGHT AS HEAVEN, The Work In Progress, on Friday, January 25th, at 7:00PM in Marlboro’s Whittemore Theater.
Collins, who graduated from Marlboro in 2002, has toured nationally performing his one-man show since 2001. He has worked with a number of St. Louis acting and performance organizations, such as Jest Entertainment, and the 2006 St. Louis Slam Poetry Team. Collins' multi-character, fast-paced solo shows have been widely praised by audience and critics alike.
“Collins as an actor has energy to spare,” says David Noble Dandridge of St. Louis’ VITAL VOICE. “…(Collins) has created something fresh and thought provoking. Oh yeah, and more than a bit funny.”
A FIRE AS BRIGHT AS HEAVEN, The Work In Progress, will feature Gun Shy, a theater-as-reportage solo piece about the NRA National Convention. Gun Shy features thirteen characters in fifteen minutes, and grapples with the issues of guns, religion, terrorism, and terror, America-style.
This performance will also feature other multi-character, comedic and political theater pieces of a journalistic bent, tackling the Iraq War, American media, and the struggles and inconsistencies of left and right wing political opinion.
Admission to this event is five dollars, and free for members of the Marlboro College community.
