Performance and presentation by Everett Company

Everett Company’s Freedom Cafés are a series of free presentations that create a dialogue at the intersection of social justice, the humanities, and the arts. Presented in collaboration with Vermont Performance Lab as part of the Speech Matters film and speaker series, this Freedom Café is an evening of performance and civic dialogue on the important issue of the criminal justice system and how it impacts our rural communities. It features excerpts from Everett’s "Freedom Project" and a facilitated community discussion with Vermont-based social justice workers from the Just Schools Project, Vermonters for Criminal Justice Reform, and the Greater Falls Community Justice Center. Everett is a Providence-based intergenerational, multicultural company of professional artists that creates original concert works and video productions, carries out a wide range of educational programs, and mentors new generations of young artists. Their Freedom Project is a multi-year organizational initiative exploring the roles theater and performance can play in the movement to end mass incarceration in America.
