Windborne is a locally sourced, internationally acclaimed quartet that includes two Marlboro alumni, Will Thomas Rowan and Lynn Mahoney Rowan, and their colleagues Lauren Breunig and Jeremy Carter-Gordon. The group is known for their project Song of the Times, songs of working-class movements for peoples' rights from the past 400 years, sung for today struggles, “picking up the torch of protest folk song for the next generation...old songs for new struggles.” The group was catapulted to new heights when a clip of them singing in protest outside Trump tower went viral, and their Indiegogo for the project raised 1,600% of its goal from people in every state and 22 countries. Windborne has collected and studied polyphonic vocal music for over 15 years, from traditional singing masters from cultures around the world, and are as comfortable with an improvised Corsican couplet song as an English ballad. No Depression said of Windborne, "Completely enthralled with them from the first notes...their harmonies are gorgeous..." Admission is sliding scale $10 to $20, students free. In addition to the concert, all are welcome to a workshop with the artists at 4:30pm, in the campus center.
