Building at Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi

The Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, Marlboro’s partner university in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, is the perfect destination for Spanish language immersion! Although the history of higher education in San Luis Potosí traces back to the Jesuit College founded in 1623, the modern version of UASLP was born in the 1850s as the Scientific and Literary Institute, founded by the government in an effort to free higher education from religious or other ideological influences. Since then, the University stands for academic autonomy and freedom, striving to both represent and be a leader in the society and the community it exists for.

Academics: UASLP has 15 degree programs offering over a hundred different courses, ranging from Biology to Psychology and from Hispano-American Language and Literature to Graphic Design and Dance. UASLP’s academic model focuses on complementing curricular offerings with professional, personal and social opportunities.

Language: Spanish proficiency required

Location: Located in central Mexico, the city of San Luis Potosi enjoys a special position, nested among three major Mexican cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. The city is a remarkable combination of colonial and modern architecture, starring museums, parks and gardens that can be enjoyed all year long thanks to the warm temperatures. The Huasteca Potosina region, named after the indigenous Huastec people, is a short car ride east of San Luis Potosí, and is extremely rich in culture, history and outdoors opportunities.
