Mid-Year Housing Changes & Selection
Room Change Information for Current Residents
(If you’re in housing and want to move during the Academic Year)
If you are living in campus housing and interested in a room change, please speak with your RA first. They can best help support your decision and help you identify any needs in your current assignment that may help you avoid having to move. In the first two weeks of each semester, we only approve room changes if they are a dire emergency. If you do feel you need to switch rooms after that period, there is a process your RA can walk you through outlined in the Room Change Request Form in the section below. Once we’ve helped you find a viable room to move into and you’ve completed the processes, the form is approved by the Office of Residential Life and you are able to move.
Post-Housing Selection Process
(If you didn’t get a housing assignment in Spring housing selection)
The Office of Residential Life provides the Returning Student Room Preference form to students who paid the enrollment deposit by the deadline and are returning to campus housing after a leave, absentia, or study abroad semester but did not select housing during the housing selection process this spring, or paid their enrollment deposit after the deadline and wish to live on campus. Please note that housing for students who deposited late is not guaranteed. Students must return the completed form no later than 9:00 am Thursday, May 11. A review of all requests will begin Monday May 15, with the majority completed during the summer break.
Preference will be given to those students who paid the enrollment deposit by the deadline based on the priority system found in the Marlboro College Bylaws, Article VII, C. Late enrollment deposits will be process after all students who paid their enrollment deposit by the deadline are housed, and based on the priority system found in the Marlboro College Bylaws, Article VII, C. Students who choose not to return this form by the deadline will be randomly assigned to an available space in a room with another upper-class student after assignments are made for those students who returned the Returning Student Hall Preference form.
Students may submit this form with other students to request a roommate or roommates. While we will attempt to maintain these pairings, in some cases we may not be able to honor such requests due to limited space. Some students may be randomly assigned to an available space in a room with another upper-class student, either based on the information provided or as space is available. Those students who wish to change rooms may complete a request starting on two weeks after the semester begins. Notification of your new assignment will be posted in Nook in your personal profile, and you may also receive an email at your marlboro.edu address.
Post Housing Selection Room Change
(If you got a housing assignment in Spring housing selection but want to change it)
The Room Change Request Form is provided to students who have selected a room during housing selection but would like to move to a different housing assignment. Completed forms will be processed according to the priority system found in the Marlboro College Bylaws, Article VIII, C. The form must be returned by 9:00 am Thursday April 27. The review of requests will begin the first week of May. Room changes must be completed prior to departure for Summer Break, no later than Thursday, May 11 by 9:00 am.
